Belpile were engaged on a construct only basis to undertake CFA piling works on a bridge replacement in Harvey, WA. The project was undertaken in accord with Main Roads WA piling specification 814 and required installation of 750mm diameter piles to significant depth with heavy reinforcing profiles. Working on the slopes of an existing watercourse, Belpiles’ lighter piling equipment was key to minimising earthworks requirements for the main contractor. Belpile ensured safe operating condition by undertaking an independent slope stability assessment in house using Oasys Slope software. Pile capacity was verified through two high strain dynamic load tests undertaken with a crane mounted 5t hydraulic hammer. Pile Driving Analyser (PDA) and CAPWAP analysis were undertaken to successfully prove the required design geotechnical resistance.
