Belpile undertook a design and construct package for the foundation and ground retention piling associated with this 32 storey hotel and apartment development. Belpile worked closely with the builder and engineer to provide a value engineering solution which was supported by a full scale static load test (Up to 7.5MN) to confirm pile ultimate and serviceability criteria. Installation of over 200 No CFA piles was required within a relatively small footprint, with sizes ranging from 600mm, 750mm to 900mm. Excavation of up to 7m at the lift pit required design and installation of temporary propping system. Low tolerance crane anchorage bolt assemblies were also cast into piles to enable gantry erection. Cast in polystyrene forms and deep concrete bailing assisted the pile cut back process below basement level. Belpile completed the works safely, ahead of schedule and within the nominated budget.
